Getting There
Getting to Cambodia is relatively easy but we have to secure visas for you and bookings have to be confirmed. We need two passport pictures of you. You will be informed way ahead of time on all the requirements. Are you coming from abroad: If you are coming from outside the Philippines, please make your airline reservations in your own country and book your flight to Manila with a connecting flight to Siam Reap as your final destination. We do not recommend booking non-refundable tickets as we cannot be responsible should your workshop be cancelled. |

GD Photo workshops will arrange for airport van service for our students flying into Manila if needed. Reservations are necessary and should be made at least two weeks in advance.
Please note for participants not from the Philippines we make sure you get all the necessary information as a downloadable .pdf file available on this website, but you will be informed also via email 3 weeks prior departure.
This workshop is designed for the advanced amateur and semi-professional Photographer who has some knowledge in digital photography, but like to improve their shooting skills and learn the digital workflow after the shoot.
This exclusive workshop is open to max.12 students only.
Gunther Deichmann, knows Cambodia well, he has visit Siam Reap, Angkor Wat many times, he will guide and advise you on shooting techniques, approaching locals, techniques on lighting in difficult situation, learn how to shoot in low light in some of Angkor Wat's dimly lit corridors, how to work with a minimal amount of equipment and still achieving your goal, a great image.
But most of all… learn how to see things in a different light.

Gunther is a master of light and contrast and has perfected his technique over 30 years as a professional Photographer. His local guide and friend Savuth is always around and can explain to you the ancient culture and history of this great location.
We travel to different temples/ruins each day in comfortable Vans, big enough for all our equipment and needs, however one of the locations will be the street life day/night of Siam Reap town, with it's French colonial buildings, at this time you have the opportunity for some shopping of local made items, visit one of the photo art galleries or sit back and relax in one of the many side walk cafés and let life drift by.
Introduction and advanced Aperture sessions will be provided each day as well, and there will be individual training sessions in Aperture provided during the entire workshop, a basic training in Photoshop is also part of the workshops for students who don't have Aperture.
Classes will be taught on basic color management, output, basic multimedia production and integration with iLife and iWork, archiving and backup techniques, and more.
Now is your time to ask questions, all day long.
We stay at the Heritage Hotel in Siam Reap, Angkor Wat, Cambodia , one of the finest Hotels in the area, this newly open Boutique Hotel provides you with some of the best accommodation in Siam Reap.
Of course the marvelous pool is yours for a swim after a hot day in the sun.
If you like to bring a travel companion along please let us know and we make special arrangements for your accommodation (Twin share). There is no additional cost for the room, the only extra charges being for the meals.
There is so much to do and see in this area, from the ruins of the ancient Khmer to life on the Tonle Sap , the colorful markets or take a swim in the Hotel pool. If your companion is not a Photographer, he/she can join our excursions for an extra fee to some of these great monuments in Siam Reap.
During mid-day and early evening students will have the opportunity to learn photographic workflow on Aperture and Photoshop, introduction into iLife including how to create your own website using iWeb.
What To Bring
In general, we advise each student to bring the following:
* Notebook for writing notes, making drawings and sketching diagrams;
* Work clothes and good walking shoes; and don't forget that raincoat for your camera, Cambodia has a tropical climate, it is better to protect your gear than you from rain, a small umbrella is also very useful, and a hat and sunglasses. Mosquito repellent and suntan lotion are also recommended.
* Don't forget to bring enough Batteries since some types are not available in these locations.
* Your camera, camera bag, tripod and selection of lenses if you have them; one camera is sufficient but it is a good idea to have even a small point and shoot camera with you.
* A very detailed list will be handed out or send to you once you have confirmed your bookings.
